Creative Writing Media Workshop

Cultural Minority

Ethnic minority students in rural China often face identity crisis as they balance heritage traditions with public education's cultural expectations. Growing up in families deeply rooted in traditional values, these students experience a unique cultural pull that contrasts with their schooling.

The South Vision Creative Writing Media Workshop empowers them by fostering self-expression and reconnecting them with their cultural identity through creative media projects.

Remote Teaching

Supported by a concise team of 4 instructors with expertise in media, linguistics, and literature, we offer remote creative writing training based on the national curriculum to all students in the target school.

With the students' consent, their written work will undergo linguistic analysis to address the influence from dialects and minority languages on their Mandarin writing.

Onsite Instruction

Onsite instruction adopts PBL learning to produce a video reflecting minority culture. Participants receive brief training on essential media and literary concepts. The program includes field exploration to local cultural spots. Priority is given to minority students.

Our Impact

Through direct instruction, we provided hands-on composition skills training and utilized cultural materials for 13 students, enhancing their writing abilities.

We extended personalized composition guidance to 30 students online in one school and 50 students in another, offering personalized feedbacks and general writing instruction.

Build a better Qianli

South Vision CW contributes to Qianli by enhancing media publicity and showcasing the impact of our educational efforts. We create offline support education review videos that document the project’s outcomes and the growth journey of our students. We also support the promotion of other Qianli projects including Easy-Teach.

Moving Forward

CW will incorporate more schools and develop more diverse teaching materials that encourage students to delve into their cultural backgrounds.

Additionally, we aim to explore cooperative opportunities with short video platforms to showcase student work and share their unique perspectives with a wider audience.
